Äärioikeiston nousu Euroopassa / The Rise of the Extreme Right in Europe
Aihetta ruoditaan keskusteluillassa Kirjakahvilassa tiistaina 9.3. klo 19 alkaen. Alustajana toimii saksalainen vihreä aktiivi Henning Stuhr, jonka kotikaupunkissa Leipzigissa kansallissosialistit ovat nousseet paikalliseen parlamenttiin asti. Tilaisuus on englanninkielinen. Tervetuloa kuuntelemaan ja keskustelemaan!

In Finland and abroad, extreme nationalistic movements are gaining ground. The Finnish political climate has in the recent years tolerated discussion that previously would have been considered racist. The white-supremacy British National Party, which had until 2009 openly restricted its membership to Caucasians, now has two seats in the European parliament.
In Dresden, Germany, an annual fascist demonstration was this year attended by over 5 000 demonstrants. Is this a political movement to be taken seriously, or just populists feeding on the frustration and bitterness of the worst-off of the society? Where to draw the line between a healthy debate on immigration, and downright racism?
These themes will be discussed on Tuesday 9th March from 7 pm onwards at the Book Cafe (Brinkkalan sisäpiha, Vanha Suurtori 3). Henning Stuhr, a German Green activist, will be describing the situation in his home area Saxony, where the national socialist party has won two seats in the local parliament. The discussion is in English. The event is organised by the Turku Young Greens (Turun vihreät nuoret).
